Internal derangement of the temporomandibular joint can be a distressing syndrome of pain, limited jaw movement, clicking, popping, and crepitus in the jaw joint. This derangement may be genetic or caused by acquired pathological changes as the result of trauma. Often, temporomandibular disorder is accompanied by muscle soreness of the head neck and shoulder muscles. A wide range of symptoms may occur such as headaches, jaw clicking or limited range of mouth opening, neck pain, ear pain, dizziness, stuffiness and ringing in the ears or blurred vision.
